Turkeys, Turkey and Turkeys

Well it is that time of year again between Columbus day (Canadian Thanksgiving) and Festivus (for the rest of us!)

Grandma hosted the annual Thanksgiving dinner which was attended by the Kydds and Bradshaws, the Robert Merkley Family, and the Stradlings. We had enough food to feed a few more mouths, but it was well attended none the less. And pies galore to feed the whole Merkley clan twice over.

The day started off with the annual Mi Amigo's Turkey Trot (10k) by Red Mountain. Last year was better attended by the family, but this year we still had a few entrants. Nathan Faler led the family with a time of 43:28. That placed him 14th in his age group and 101 over all males (thats 1167) and I think, if I read the statistics correctly, 115 out of the whole following of 2303 racers. Crazy! Way to represent the Richard Merkley family.
Robert Kydd came in waving a standard for the Leon Merkley family with a time of 54:46, and Tricia Merkley (another Richard family rep) came in with a time 57:40. Even Garren Griffits (okay, we get it, Richard's family likes to run) got involved although I don't think he was an official entrant because I can't find his time, but it was around 60:00. (Next year, if you run, let Misha know so she can stick around and take your picture as you pass her house.)

This of course only led to a better appreciation for the turkey dinners that followed in the day.

When we showed up at grandma's, the tables were all set with little candy turkey decorations at each place setting.
I think that Grandma and Edith did the turkeys while Robert and Kathee did the pilgrim hats. All I know is that when you use Oreo cookies and Reeses Peanut Butter cups, you can't go wrong. In fact, everything is right in the world.

Everyone was eating....
Drinking...
and taking off their pants...
Well, better him than Uncle George as it was reported.
How true that is!
I think at the end of the day, everyone was content with life....and the cream pies.
